2025 NORTH HARBOR FRESHWATER MASTERS

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The regatta will be organised and hosted by the Pupuke Boating Club (Inc)
at Sylvan Park Ave, Milford and will be held on Sunday 9th November 2025.

1.0Rules
the Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2025 - 2028 (the rules)
2.0Notices to Competitors
Notices to competitors will be posted on the official noticeboard at the clubhouse.
3.0Changes to Sailing Instructions
Any changes will be posted at least 15 minutes prior to the first warning signal of a racing session.
4.0Signals Made Ashore
Signals made ashore will be displayed at the tower or in a cone on the shore.
5.0Schedule of Races
Five races, each approximately 35 minutes, are scheduled.
Sunday     warning     1030    up to 5 races back-to-back
A separate start may be accorded any class or division with six or more entrants
On the water, instructions regarding race starts and courses may be given verbally.
No warning signal shall be made after 1500
6.0Courses and Marks
Five orange bouys are permanently located in the N, E, S, SW, W 'corners' of the lake.
Attachment MAP, and the blackboard at the clubhouse, show the lake, the marks, and possible courses.
Triangular course:     the most windward bouy will be mark#1.
mark#2 will be the adjacent bouy, either to port or starboard of mark#1.
The course to be sailed will be notified prior to the warning signal,
by displaying a numeral pennant over a Red or Green shape denoting Port or Starboard hand
The marks will be rounded in the following order:
numeral '1'     1 - 3 -- 1 - 3 - fin
numeral '2'     1 - 2 - 3 -- 1 - 2 - 3 - fin
a port course will be favored - weather permitting
7.0The Start
Races will be started using rule 26 with a 3 minute sequence. (3,2,1,go)
The warning signal for any succeeding class will be made not less than one minute after the starting signal of the preceeding class.
For back-to-back races, the first warning signal of the next sequence of starts will occur
not less than three minutes after the finish of the previous races,
and will be preceeded by the display of the orange startline flag for at least two minutes.
The start line shall be between an orange flag either on the committee boat or in a cone on the beach,
and a orange buoy, which may or may not be mark #3 of the course.
8.0Change the Course
The course of a race will not be changed during that race
9.0Shorten the Course (additional to rule 32)
On a leg of the course, a committee boat will make sounds and show ' S ' over ' 1 ',
meaning that the remaining course is to the NEXT mark, thence to the normal FINISH LINE.
10.0The Finish Line (except when rule 32 is in effect)
Between a cone on the beach displaying a blue flag and an orange buoy laid to the south or east.
11.0Penalties (changeing rule 44.1)
A One-Turn penalty is required for a breach of a Part-2 rule.
12.0Time Limits (changeing rule 35)
In any race, a starter that has not finished within 10 minutes of the first boat to finish, may be scored as DNF.
13.0Protests
Protests regarding an incident in a session shall be delivered to a race officer within 15 minutes of the last boat to finish the last race of that session.
Arbitration 'in public' may be offered as an instructional method of resolving protests.
14.0Scoring
Appendix A will apply, with two races being completed to constitute the Championship.
after three completed races, a boat's worst score may be dropped from her total.
15.0Prizes
Prizes will be allocated firstly to placegetters in 'standard' divisions:
(30+  45+  55+  65+  75+  Women), thence to 'winners' of a spot-prize procedure.
16.0Disclaimer
As per rule4, competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority cannot accept any liability for material damage or personal injury sustained in conjunction with the regatta.
