SAILING  INSTRUCTIONS

1.0      The Rules

the regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2025 – 2028 (the rules).

2.0      Notice to Competitors

notices to competitors will be posted on the official noticeboard at the clubhouse.

3.0      Changes to Sailing Instructions

any changes to the Sailing Instructions will be posted before 1000 on the day that those changes are to take effect.

4.0      Signals Made Ashore

signals made ashore will be displayed at the tower.

5.0      Schedule of Races

5.1      seven races, each approximately 35 minutes, are scheduled

Saturday       warning         1130              4 races  back-to-back       

           Sunday         warning         1130              3 races  back-to-back

5.2     a separate start may be accorded any class or division with six or more entrants

6.0   Courses and Marks 

five orange teardrops are permanently located around the edges of the lake.

Attachment MAP shows the lake, and the positions of the fixed marks.

6.1      windward-leeward course (a thin triangle)

the most windward orange teardrop will be mark#1.  The next orange teardrop to port or starboard, will be mark#2.

6.2      the course to be sailed will be notified prior to the warning signal, by displaying numeral ‘1’, ‘2’ or ‘3’,   and a Red or Green shape denoting Port or Starboard hand

6.3      the marks will be rounded in the following order:

           numeral ‘1’               1 – 2 – 3  –  fin                           

numeral ‘2’               1 – 2 – 3  –  1 – 2 – 3  –  fin

           a port course will be favored, weather permitting

6.5      the initial course for a session will be demonstrated on a blackboard at the clubhouse prior to the first warning signal for that session

6.6   on the water, instructions regarding the course may be given verbally prior to a start

7.0      The Start

7.1      races will be started using rule 26 with a 3 minute (3 2 1 go) sequence.

7.2      The warning signal for any succeeding class will be made not less than one minute after the starting signal of  the preceeding class.

7.3   for back-to-back races, the first warning signal of the next sequence of starts will occur not less than three minutes after the finish of the previous races, and will be preceeded by a display of the orange startline flag for at least two minutes.

7.4      the start line shall be between the orange startline flag displayed either on the committee boat or in a cone on the beach, and an orange tear-drop which may, or may not be, mark #3 of the course.

8.0      Change the Course

the course of a race will not  be changed during that race.

9.0      Shorten the Course          additional to rule 32

on a leg of the course, the committee boat will make sounds and show ‘S’ over ‘1’, meaning that the remaining course is to the NEXT mark, thence to the normal finish line.

10.0    The Finish    (except when rule 32  ‘S’  is in effect)

the finish line is between a blue flag in a cone on the beach and a small orange buoy laid to the south or east.

11.0    Penalties (altering rule 44.1)

a One-Turn (360°) penalty applies when a rule of Part_2 is breached

12.0    Time Limits  additional to rule 35

in any race, a starter that has not finished within five  minutes of the first boat to finish, may be scored as DNF for that race.  

No Warning signal will be made after 1430 on the Sunday

13.0    Protests

protest forms are available at the tower. Protests involving incidents in a session of races shall be delivered within 30 minutes of the last boat to finish the last race of that session

Arbitration as Appendix T may be offered as a means to resolve protests.

14.0    Scoring

Appendix A  will apply, with three races completed to constitute the Championship.

When four or more races have been completed, a boat’s score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

15.0    Prizes

Major prizes will be allocated firstly to Class event winners, thence to placegetters in standard age divisions (Youth, Open, Apprentice, Master, Grand.M, Super.M, Women according to numbers as in SI 5.2), thence to ‘winners’ of a spot-prize procedure

16.0    Disclaimer

as per rule 4, competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority cannot accept any liability for material damage or personal injury sustained in conjunction with the regatta
